Tools

Each tool leaves a different set of keys to find

The tools differ a good deal in where your data lives, who can take over, and how hard it is to leave. Here's what we found in each one's documentation and in published reporting.

Quality hand tools hung neatly on a wooden board in a sunlit workshop

All of these are serious products, and they share one thing: every one says, in its own words, that your app’s security and access are your responsibility. These aren’t reviews of which tool is best. They’re what you should know if your business already depends on one.

All in oneLovable, Bolt, Base44, ReplitThe tool holds the app and often the data. The same question, “who holds the keys?”, has a different answer for each kind of tool.

How they compare on ownership

This is what we found in each vendor’s public documentation on 6 November 2026. Products change quickly, and some answers depend on your plan, so check the current position on each tool’s page and at the source.

LovableWorkspaces can have several owners, though the plan may affect how. One is the primary owner.Only the primary owner can transfer it. We found no documented route if they’ve gone.Code and data can both be exported, separately. Moving the backend is developer work.
ReplitA personal workspace has one admin. Core and Pro have a single account admin.“Accounts can’t be transferred directly.” Contact support for a business handoff.Standard code and PostgreSQL, but a manual job. Check that you’re backing up the right database.
BoltNo Co-owner on a personal plan. Teams have more options. We found nothing documented for an owner who has gone.Code downloads easily. We found no documented full backup of a Bolt database.
CursorDepends on each account: GitHub, hosting and database. Cursor teams can have several admins.Contact Cursor support for admin access. GitHub’s policy covers a death, not someone who has left.Very open for code. Everything else depends on what the builder chose.
Base44The Admin role needs an Enterprise plan. Each workspace has one owner.Base44 says it won’t grant access against the creator’s will. Its terms let Wix decide or suspend. No self-hosting. To leave, you’d rebuild the backend, and customers would sign up again.
v0Vercel teams can have several Owners, and Vercel recommends two. Not on the free plan.Transfers need an Owner. We found no documented process if they’ve gone.Code exports. A one-click database can be harder to move.
